IJsland Trip - Voorbereiding

We komen langs de Blue Lagoon, Snaefellsnes, Borgarfjorour, bingvellir, talloze mooie watervallen (o.a. Gullfoss, Sejalandsfoss, Skogafoss en Svartifoss), enkele bekende hetebrongebieden (o.a.

Iceland's Uniqueness and Typicalities II

Iceland from Eva Sturm on Vimeo.

Found this really extraordinary beautiful video at tumblr's blog 'Iceland in Pictures' and is produced by Eva Sturm.

Iceland's Uniqueness and Typicalities

In December 2010 Bella and I visited the museum of etnology in Leiden: Museum van Volkenkunde. There we met John walking up the lane entrance while having a closer look at the typical Maori boat, the waka. He told us a little bit about this, unaware why the director of this museum would do this anyway. After a few minutes he asked us if he could walk up with us going to the entrance hall of the museum, and while we were talking and stepping into the entrance hall, we were received by an audience of photographers, and other people, specially for us. Well, not us, but the 100,000 visitor of the year. Bella was the one. That was a big surprise, and fun. Bella had the best time of her life, in a musuem, she told me afterwards. She was beaming.

This was oke on itself, however, you can imagine we received not only the honours, but also were awarded a price: an expedition to Iceland.

Here you go, next week were are going; Wednesday, April 27th.

Rolling In The Deep by Shane Alexander

Goede live performance. Zal zeker weer gaan wanneer hij in Amsterdam is.

What has love got to do with it?

Today is The Day After. And I feel good, enlightened, inspired, energized, clear-headed and light-hearted. It is amazing. It is the day after the 3-days retreat at the 'Zonheuvel', a lovely intimate green, tree-rich resort close to Doorn. It was a wonderful practical workshop with David Ellzey, working with the Sedona Method, on how we can be be open to love. Just allow being loved and loving, by letting go our limiting thoughts, feelings and beliefs, and beyond. I became fully aware that the stories I have created in my life, are stories of those particular moments in the past, coloured over time, and tend strongly defining who I am.
However, now given, and taken the choice, to live the story or let the story go, I am aware and feel that I am not my stories. I am far more than that. They are just one of the infinite pieces of me, and by letting them go, I am able to take away the limiting impact that they have on my thoughts and feelings in the moment - NOW. It was truly a cleansing experience. And I feel clear and happy, now, in this very moment. This morning at the breakfast table I shared this with Elliz. I said to her: "I love myself, I love you, unconditionally, and I am happy", and smiled. And she was happy for me.

Wednesday's

Have a beautiful view from the brasserie of the Atlantic Hotel; yellow dunes, grey beach and green blue sea of the Northsea, under a blue grey sky with big white grey clouds. Today it is May 5th; Liberation Day, a Dutch National holiday. Elliz and Bella are getting ready to go to Rokanje for a few days, at the summerhouse of Daniella. For me it is just an easy, laidback working day, and as the Coffee@Company and Cafe Madeleine are closed, I am here in Kijkduin. A nice change of scenery, however, a bit strange, while it feels as I am on one of my travels, sitting in the public area of this NH hotel. It feels a bit of vacation.

Tuesday's

Had a brief friendly chat with Edward, the father of Tijn, and ex-partner of Nisha, at Cafe Madeleine. Edward had been in Valencia over the weekend, and found it hard to be back in Holland, with its unpredictable, gloomy weather, and the blunt people. All within personal perspective, of course, however, I can understand his point of view.

For a few months now I come here frequently. Excellent wireless internet access, fine cafe latte, and nice hospitality. And an interesting outlook at the Madeleine.

Start

Monday morning at Coffee @ Company. Woke up before sunrise. Am a bit weary. Elliz has her first acquisition meeting, at Exact, with Daniella. And I dropped Bella at the day care. Bella looked forward to see Louise, the younger sister of Chantal. She brought her a present. But she was a day off. She was happy to be there, though.

The Element

Sir Ken Robinson, meanwhile, has a passion for reminding us that “We are all born with tremendous natural capacities, and that we lose touch with many of them as we spend more time in the world … with the result that many people never connect with their true talents and therefore don't know what they're really capable of achieving.” And to that I say, if you have a child who says, “Mom and Dad, I want to sing. I want to dance. I want to paint. I want to teach. I want to write books. I want to be president. I want to change the world.” Let them at least try. Support them. In other words, by all means do everything that you can to help our children find their lane so that they can be happy with who and what they were made to be.

Lisa Lois - No Good For Me

Every time you walk in
I feel somethin' amazing begin
Like a storm - like a flood in my heart, yeah

Every touch, every word
Feels like music that I’ve never heard
You give me - somethin' special from the start

Chorus:
Just when I - think that I finally found some good love
You go take it away
Just when I - think that I finally found some good love
You go give it away to someone who's no good for you.
Boy you make me see - you’re no good for me
No good for me - good for me - no good for me

Every smile makes me fly
Makes me feel like I’m ten stories high
Can’t come down - can’t let go
Of your heart

(Chorus)
