Willekeurige kijkjes

Het was laat op een woensdagmiddag. Ik reed vanuit het Haagse centrum, langs het Vredespaleis. Terwijl ik stopte voor het verkeerslicht, keek ik even naar links.

Werd getroffen door een uniek schouwspel. Een toren aan een rood-roze horizon - alsof in vuur, in een lichtblauwe, witte hemel, doortrokken met zwart-grijze wolkenslierten alsof penseelstreken op een olieverf schilderij.

Op een vrijdagochtend was ik te vroeg voor een afspraak met De Kunstlinie, in de nieuwe schouwburg van Almere. Was de enige in de hal, op de receptioniste na. Midden in de hal, draaide ik 360 graden rond, op zoek naar een unieke hoek of perspectief. Daar, rechts van mij; een aardig kader.

The Naissance of Cubism

Visited the new exposition of Cezanne, Picasso and Mondriaan.

Strolled through it, listening to Bach Goldberg Variations, on my iPod.

Took some pics with my Nokia.

Was energizing and inspiring.

The unique touch, the simple strokes, cones, rectangulars and squares, and the strong characteristics of the three extraordinary artists, though dissimilar by their personality and perspective, Cezanne definitely influenced Picasso, and as the elder, Mondriaan made his mark on Picasso.

It seems that the bathing women of Cezanne inspired Picasso to the very first piece of Cubism by Picasso, also of bathing women.

Feel a bit better after the tonsil infection and anitbiotica (broxil) over the weekend.

Am now in the Privium Lounge. Always a pleasure. Had herbal tea with honey, and two small croissants. Bliss.

Am ready for the Global Cities Dialogue Conference. It's their 10th Anniversary summit, with a Mayors Summit and General Assembly Meeting on Tuesday, and a dinner this evening. Will meet Claire Klindt from GCD, and executive people from cities world wide. Am really excited to see if Cisco's TelePresence platform can deliver the promised experience. If so, it will be a big exposure to all Mayors and local government executives around the world.
